Diversity and inclusion are key factors that influence the formation of igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks, minerals, and sandstones. In igneous rocks, diverse mineral compositions result from inclusive processes like crystallization and magma mixing. Metamorphic rocks exhibit varied compositions due to inclusive processes such as regional and contact metamorphism. Minerals themselves display diversity in chemical makeup and physical properties, shaped by inclusive environments within Earth's crust. Even in sandstone, diversity is evident in grain size and composition, reflecting diverse depositional environments.

 Language in geology helps articulate the complexity and variety of these processes, enhancing our understanding of the Earth's dynamic systems.

Method

The artwork was made by carefully collecting rocks of different shapes, colours, and sizes. These represent people from different cultures, each speaking different languages, showcasing the rich tapestry of human expression. The diverse selection of vibrant rocks was then arranged to symbolize the value of every individual and the strength that comes from unity in diversity. This composition encourages viewers to embrace and honour the variety of human experiences, languages, and backgrounds in their own communities. The art piece serves as a visual reminder of how the incorporation and appreciation of these differences contribute to a stronger, more beautiful whole.

Bio

Stephanie began her career with a certificate in tourism, sparking a passion for exploration and adventure. Then she became a Licensed Practical Nurse, developing a strong sense of empathy. Now, she is advancing her education with a BBA at the College of the Rockies. Beyond the professional realm, her heart lies in nature, where she finds solace and exhilaration in mountaineering, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, caving, biking, and ski touring. These adventures demand teamwork, focus, and determination—qualities she applies to all aspects of her life. Passionate about new experiences, she aims to positively influence others while cherishing life's journey.
