Science Concatenation
Ganiyat K. Oloyede
At first, occurring like a thief in twilight
Staying to become a global emergence
Leading to mask mandates, restrictions and quarantine
Causing deaths and untold hardship
That pandemic! That COVID 19!
Science, the illuminator, the rescuer
Science, the mirror,
Enigmas unsolved now seen
Science, that knowledge and belief meeting
human physical, social, and economic needs
Science, concrete solidifying
fluidity crossing across all globe
Science, geography forming, biology of evolution,
physics of the stars
Science, ideas and universe, molecules forming waves, atoms
in our brains emerging into perception
symbolism in hidden wonder of the world
Science reveals hidden beauty
analyzes nature, the concatenation, a series of links united,
providing the clue and solution to life
existence and disorder present in a system
Science! Science! Science! Science!
That Beauty! That Wonder!
The Science
This poem is inspired by old and recent occurrences. Science is part of our life, its coming into view or into existence has been since man’s evolution. It can also be nascent, new, arising unexpectedly, especially if also calling for immediate reaction like emergence of diseases. This poem has been written to depict the permanent worth or importance of scientific solutions to many emerging problems, to show its many sides, that there is no phase of life that science has not impacted. It is the lens through which all other discipline is discovered. This poem also shows the diversity and inclusive nature of science to other discipline.
