Confusion resolved
Monsurat O. Oloyede
The earth was put into discord
A vicious virus that took the world by storm
So invisible yet conspicable
Like a whirlwind, it swept to the north and then to the south
Its swiftness in taking a soul from its being
A once healthy soul now lying six feet deep
And there came the confusion
Is it living or dead?
Not minding race, age or colour
Then there came the Messiah
Ever omniscient and clever
With a list of scientific methods
Observing every little thing, taking cognizance of irrelevances
Taking a peek into homes, inquiring of the happenings
In their notes, they wrote lengthy hypotheses to satisfy their curiosity
Unsatisfied, they made their way to another home
Then to the laboratory
Again and again, tests were done for they were wary of jumping to conclusions
At last they took to their heels
Science has won, they said
The enemy has been defeated
Our plight has been solved
A great tribute to science, a saviour for all
The Science
This poem was inspired by the recent emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, scientists all over the world were working to discover a drug that could cure the disease. It caused confusion at first but at last, a vaccine breakthrough was used by people. This reduced the mortality rate.
