Sea of Seeds
Alba V Suárez García
Curiosity is the essence of discovery,
without it, we’d retrace the same linear paths.
So look for a new root to track,
take an unexpected left instead of the usual right.
We are fortunate: a generation
provisioned with such technological arrangements
relations become virtual annotations,
questions answered in seconds.
We blossom through a network of seeds,
fibre-optic roots that grow from beneath,
a cyber forest of interlinking trees
more connected than we’ve ever been.
Water is crucial for growth,
collected from streams where knowledge stows
a valuable information source.
Who controls where it ebbs and flows?
For there is imbalance on Earth:
floods that enrage and devour,
areas untouched and in drought,
an inequitable share of water’s whereabouts.
We can direct this stream,
build channels to branch its course,
bring knowledge to those who desire
to learn, to grow, to explore.
Look beyond the superficial feeds,
notice what makes the surroundings green;
entangled systems within the leaves
bestow oxygen for life to evolve, to breathe.
Designs engineered at a level so intricate
the harmony of elements react in synthesis,
to kindle the matter that fuels all movement,
in continuous cycles that keeps all from collapsing.
To see in light of this sea of possibility
is to quench this seed’s thirst with ultimate liberty,
enabling growth in the areas that matter,
knowledge is the purest of waters.
Find the source that will provide
the most brilliant of sights.
Explore every corner of the map.
Dare to see things in a different light.
The Science
We hold an incalculable power in our hands. The internet has provided a platform of connectivity on a global scale, where information spread can happen in a fraction of time. Why are countless sources that provide knowledge so privatised and protected with paywalls? Why are sites that showcase the vanity of humankind so freely accessible and widespread? Where is the intersection? By understanding who we are, we can fathom understanding all things surrounding us. For the blueprints that describe the functioning of a seed aren’t too dissimilar to those describing our own, or those of man-made creations.
The Poet
As a biologist, Alba has always marvelled at Nature’s true essence of balance; the way it thrives when faced with coexistence and its challenges, composing an eclectic diversity of symphonic songs and ritual dances. For its sacred fractal geometry, in all its beautiful imperfections and flawless structural symmetry, witnessed the birth of all life and rocked the cradle of our humanity. With his heart set on conservation, Alba now strives to be the voice that calls for Nature's protection and salvation, becoming a guardian of this wild and wonderful world by sharing the secrets of its science through meaningful communication.
