The world is surrounded by art, emphasized in its natural forms. Art, as in nature, is naturally present to showcase the potentiality of creation. The world is filled with natural beauty, and art is created with that beauty the world provides. In this cave painting, the night sky and moonlight showcases the world at peace and tranquility, which changes themes from day time to night time. The cave itself is formed from sedimentary rock, creating textures for everyone to enjoy visually and interact with by touch. Natural ingredients abundant on earth, absolutely can create works of art, not only naturally created on canvas by nature, but also by human hand.

Method

Growing up, my father was a miner, so I've always been familiar with the textures of mining, even as a young girl. I've always loved art, and created things with unusual textures. I remember the first thing I created at three years old, was a collage of fall leaves on a piece of paper. 

For this paining, I outlined the frame work of the cave, but created the moon, sky and mountains first, then added sand and salt for the inside of the cave. This was all just the first step. Detail is what brings me the most joy: the sand, the salt, the shape of the inside of the cave. Next came the shadows and light, using copper acrylic paint, then deep browns, red, even dark gold. Nature has richness of color that inspires me: from earthy tones, to the blues of the night sky especially. 

My father's career as a miner and showing us nature growing up, was my first inspiration. This painting was an easy inspiration for me, even while learning what consilience is as well.

Bio

Monique Bolduc is an artist/writer of short stories, poems, newspaper articles and corporate mining reports. She enjoys the creativity of merging textured arts, and reaching people of all interests. Monique loves creating paintings using textures and natural ingredients to enable those who cannot see, or see well, to be able to enjoy them too. She also deems varied writings to be verbal paintings, which create visual pleasure for everyone. Monique prefers the beauty of simplicity in her work.
